US education is below the average amongst Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development countries despite the fact that the US has an abundance of resources. Domestically, urban areas are performing well below US averages. In Detroit, 69% of students score below the basic National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) level in fourth grade math at a record low score.

Focus

The American K-12 education system needs to be transformed. SvF can empower entrepreneurs to develop and scale effective products, technologies, and services to transform education. SvF’s focus on urban K-12 education evaluates:

  • next level of Student Information Systems,
  • other assessment and standardization technology,
  • parental involvement programs or models, and
  • (mentoring enabled technologies and other outside-school time (OST) involvement models.
