The SvF was created by a student-led initiative that has instilled us with an entrepreneurial culture.  Unlike traditional university based venture funds that are created with a generous gift from a donor, we received our first funds from the class of 2010, which directed their entire graduating class gift to the SvF.  While this gave us our seed funding, we are currently seeking additional contributions so we can provide the much needed financial support to social entrepreneurs.

What separates us from traditional venture funds is that we use a developing system of metrics and methods (IRIS and SROI) to measure the social and environmental benefits of our investments. This helps our donors to quantify the positive impacts of their gifts and leads to the further development of this measurement system..

All contributions to the SvF are considered a charitable donation to the Ross School of Business and are tax deductible.
