Joanna Herrmann

Joanna is a second year MBA/MS dual degree student in the Erb Institute in Global Sustainable Enterprise focusing on market-based solutions to global challenges. Last summer she interned at the start-up SoFi (Social Finance), a leader in marketplace lending and the largest provider of student loan refinancing.  Prior to coming to Michigan, she worked at the Aspen Institute, an international nonprofit in Washington, DC. At Aspen, Joanna helped build the Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE) – a membership network of organizations working to support small and growing businesses in emerging markets, as well as the Aspen Global Leadership Network – a Fellowship program of 1,800 entrepreneurial business leaders from 40+ countries. Prior to her time at Aspen, Joanna founded the Ben Topus Camp, an overnight camp for inner-city youth in DC and Maryland. She has a B.A. in Human Rights from the University of Virginia and wrote her senior thesis on the International Criminal Court.
