EdSurge : Get Schooled on these 65 College Readiness Tools

COLLEGE KNOWLEDGE: Getting to college takes more than good grades. Its takes a bit of research–and sometimes a guiding hand. According to a new report from The Get Schooled Foundation, “fewer than 15% of high-need high school students receive the type of personal guidance that allows them to get on a path to college success.” The report does a commendable job at rating 65 tools in four categories: preparation tools, admissions, college success, and financial planning and scholarship.

One of the companies in the report, Mytonomy, just announced a statewide deal in North Carolina to offer its video-based advising platform to the state’s 400,000-plus high school students and hundreds of counselors. The tool, “Let Me Tell You,” will be delivered through the College Foundation of North Carolina’s online portal, a state service that helps students plan, apply and pay for college.
